Patriots of Heritage Shores

The sound of the bagpipe echoed throughout the clubhouse at Heritage Shores, an adult community in Bridgeville. Piper Randy Welch, from Easton, Maryland, welcomed the residents and guests to a ceremony commemorating the ninth anniversary of Patriot Day. Patriot Day was established right after 9/11 by the United States Congress to honor the military, police, firefighters and Emergency Medical Personnel who risk their lives everyday to protect ours.

The feature presentation of the day was the performance of the Marine ROTC Detachment from Woodbridge High School under the leadership of 1st Sgt (Ret) David W. Grinstead Sr. United States Marine Corp. Their performance of the MIA/POW missing service member ceremony brought goose bumps to many in the audience. The cadets were led by David Grinstead Jr. who captivated the audience with his command presence and knowledge of the meaning behind the presentation. It made all of us in the audience aware that there are many positive things about our youth of today.

The National Anthem and a medley featuring America the Beautiful was performed by Command Sergeant Major, (Ret) Greg Fuller, United States Army. Presentations were made by the new Bridgeville Police Chief Robert Longo, Jim Cina, representing the Bridgeville Fire Fighters and The final speaker was Robert Stuart, Director of the Sussex County EMS. After the closing prayer by Heritage Shore resident Reverend Tom Connar the piper played Amazing Grace thereby concluding the ceremony and he departed the ballroom playing ‘Going Home’.

All of us living in Heritage Shores are proud to recognize the 24/7 dedication and commitment of all of the members in law enforcement, the firefighters and EMS personnel to protect us. We also can’t thank enough the young men and women in the military service that risk their lives everyday to keep our great country free.

Residents Rock the House with a Tribute to Elvis

The residents of Heritage Shores paid tribute to the one and only Elvis Presley. The executive chef prepared a Memphis style menu that would have surely pleased the King himself. A few brave homeowners even dressed the part in full Elvis gear. The evening ended with a spectacular performance from one of Delaware’s local Elvis tribute performers. No hound dogs here and everyone had a great time.

A Cooking Tip from the Executive Chef

Looking ahead to football season, one of the most popular dishes is chili. Most people know that the basic ingredients to any good chili recipe are ground beef, onions, peppers, tomatoes, herbs and spices. What many don't know, is that to add a unique touch to your chili recipe, you can add black coffee and bittersweet chocolate. If you are making a gallon of chili, you should add two ounces of the coffee and a quarter an ounce of the bittersweet chocolate. This will give your chili a nice base that will help to bridge all of your traditional chili flavors together.

Let me know if you have any questions about this or if you need any more information!

Host Your Next Event at Heritage Shores

Heritage Shores Club offers many special services and hosts an array of events, from corporate meetings, to private social events and large weddings. There are many different rooms throughout the clubhouse to choose from based on the size of your event and the type of food and beverage service that you intend to offer your guests.

The ballroom at Heritage Shores can accommodate up to 300 guests for a seated banquet to still have use of the spacious dance floor. For a cocktail reception, the ballroom can hold up to 450 people. If you are hosting a smaller function, Heritage Shores also has two more intimate rooms which can be rented for special functions. One of these rooms can accommodate up to 50 guests while the other holds up to 32 guests. These rooms are wonderful options for birthday parties, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers and any other type of party for your closest family and friends.

Another option is the Conference Room on the lower level of the clubhouse. This space is ideal for board meetings or small business meetings. It can hold up to 10 people and has amenities such as wi-fi and conference phones that can be used for your meeting as needed.

One of the most beautiful areas at the club is the Gazebo, which serves multiple functions. It is a popular location for wedding ceremonies and is a nice back drop for photos but is also often times the area that golf tournaments choose to use for their after golf banquet.

Regardless of the size of your event or which room you choose, the team of event specialists at Heritage Shores is here to ensure that your event is a success and to help you throughout the planning process. Heritage Shores offers an extensive array of food and beverage options so that a total package can be put together based on your specific needs.
